Augusta man riding powered wheelchair fatally struck on Deans Bridge Road

The Richmond County Coroner's Office confirmed a man riding a powered wheelchair on Saturday was killed after being struck by a vehicle.

John Cummings, 63, of Augusta, was pronounced dead at the hospital following the wreck.

Cummings was struck by a vehicle while riding his powered wheelchair on Deans Bridge Road, according to a news release from the coroner's office. The crash occurred at the intersection of Deans Bridge and Ridge roads.

Responders transported Cummings to Augusta University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to the release.
