Man dead, woman wounded in double shooting in Sand Hills

A dead man and a wounded woman found in Augusta's Sand Hills neighborhood has spurred a Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigation.

Deputies arrived at a house on the 2500 block of Henry Street, between Monte Sano and Fleming avenues, at 9:40 p.m., finding a woman "who had been shot at least once" and a man dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sheriff's Sgt. John Perry.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Perry said.
