AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The threat of rain and storms didn’t stop the excitement at the Augusta National Golf Club Saturday for the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Play was suspended around 10:30 a.m. as storms moved into our area.

Robert Forde is visiting from Orange Park, Florida and said he couldn’t pass up on the opportunity.

“We’re going to come out, here it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We’re going to come out here and enjoy,” Forde said.

With their umbrellas, chairs and gift shop purchases in hand, patrons said rain or shine they had to come to enjoy the beauty of the course.

“It’s a temple of gold, this course. We dream to come here. We don’t care if it rains if we don’t have an umbrella,” said Sofia Giron who is visiting from Colombia.

Patrons were allowed back on the course at 1:45 p.m. and play resumed shortly after.
