Oregon golfers Briana Chacon and Cynthia Lu were both tied for seventh after Wednesday's round one, making the scenario clear-cut for round two: if they could each finish in the top 30 after Thursday, they advance to the final round at historic Augusta National Golf Club.
Let's start with Lu: After shooting a 71 on Wednesday, the 21-year-old from Taiwan improved upon that Thursday with three birdies on the day, shooting a 70. It puts Lu in a tie for 4th at three under.
As for Chacon, her day started with a bogey. She did manage two birdies, but a double bogey on hole 12 hurt.
The good news is that even though Chacon shot a two over 74, she finished in a tie for 21st, which means both Ducks are advancing to the final round.
So before the Masters begin next week, Chacon and Lu will get to compete at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday.
TV coverage begins at 9 a.m. on NBC.
