Auburn’s season came to an end at the hands of the Clemson Tigers in the final game of the Clemson Regional last week.
The Tigers played in their third-straight regional and won 43 games for the first time under Mickey Dean’s leadership.
Next in our Year in Review series is Rose Roach, the sophomore infielder who saw more production this season. Used primarily as a platoon second baseman, Roach saw an increase in games played, at-bats, and fielding opportunites.

Here is a look back at Rose Roach’s sophomore season:

Roach reached a career-high in at-bats in 2023 with 53, up from 48 in her freshman season. She struck out nine times and walked four times last season.
Games played: 47
Roach saw an increase in playing time in 2023 by appearing in 47 games with 13 starts primarily at second base.
Hits: 13
Roach recorded 13 hits last season, which tied the number set her freshman season. Breaking down her hits, Roach recorded nine singles and four doubles.
Home runs: 0
Despite seeing improvement all around at the plate, Roach has yet to crank her first home run of her career.
RBI: 10
Another career-high mark of Roach’s 2023 season was her RBI total. Roach doubled her RBI total from five in her freshman season to 10 as a sophomore in 2023. She was one of ten players to record 10 or more RBI this season.
Slugging percentage: .321
Roach’s increase in doubles increased her slugging percentage in her sophomore season from .313 to .321.
Fielding percentage: .930
More opportunities in the field has given Roach plenty of chances to improve her game. Roach made 29 putouts with 24 assists while committing just four errors.
