THE DEVASTATING LOSS OF LIFE. RIGHT NOW, IT DOESN’T FEEL REAL. DIANA GARRIS IS VISITING THE SITE OF A DEADLY CRASH IN PLACER COUNTY NEAR ROSEVILLE THAT TOOK THE LIVES OF THREE YOUNG MEN, INCLUDING ONE OF GARRIS. GOOD FRIENDS, PIECES OF A BROKEN GATE AND PARTS OF A CAR ARE SCATTERED NEXT TO THE STREET. A GRIM REMINDER OF WHAT HAPPENED GOING BY HERE. IT JUST SEEMS A LOT MORE REAL THAT ONE OF MY CLOSEST FRIENDS IS GONE. SO IT’S KIND OF PAINFUL AND IT HURTS. THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS JUST BEFORE 2 A.M. SUNDAY, A BMW WAS SPEEDING ON VINEYARD ROAD NEAR CRIOLLO ROAD WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A POWER POLE. THE CAR THEN ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND SLAMMED INTO THIS BRICK GATE. THE THREE PEOPLE INSIDE, ALL 21 YEAR OLD MEN FROM ROSEVILLE DIED AT THE SCENE. CHP SAYS IT’S UNKNOWN RIGHT NOW IF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL PLAYED A ROLE AS THEY TRY TO PROCESS THEIR PAIN. THOSE WHO KNEW THE VICTIMS BRING FLOWERS TO THE CRASH SITE AND JUST AS THE PETALS HAVE BRIGHT COLORS, IT’S THE LEGACY OF LIGHT OF THOSE YOUNG MEN THAT FRIENDS WANT TO FOCUS ON. THE SMILE HE BROUGHT INTO EVERY ROOM HE WALKED INTO. AND THE WAY HE COULD JUST MAKE ANYONE SMILE. FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THIS AREA, SEEING ALL OF THE DESTRUCTION LEFT IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE CRASH, INCLUDING ALL THIS DEBRIS ON THE GROUND, IS DEVASTATING. BUT THEY SAY THAT RECKLESS DRIVING ALONG THE STREET IS NOT UNCOMMON. THERE WAS LIKE A BIG TRUCK WITH WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A CHERRY PICKER ON IT. AND THEN I LOOKED AGAIN AND REALIZED IT WAS THE POWER POLE RIGHT THERE THAT WAS TIPPED OVER THIS NEIGHBOR WHO DID NOT WANT TO BE IDENTIFIED, TELLS ME SHE SAW THE DAMAGE DURING HER MORNING WALK. SHE SAYS DRIVERS ON VINEYARD ROAD NEED TO TAKE IT SLOW. I’M NOT SURPRISED THAT SOMETHING TRAGIC HAS HAPPENED, THOUGH. WE HEAR CARS FLYING DOWN THIS ROAD ALL THE TIME, CONSTANTLY JUST TRYING TO PULL OUT OF YOUR OWN DRIVEWAY. IT’S, YOU KNOW, IT GETS SCARY. AS NEIGHBORS HOPE FOR CHANGE, ALL FRIENDS OF THE VICTIMS CAN DO IS HOLD ON TO THEIR MEMORIES. EVERYONE WILL MISS THEM AND NO ONE WILL EVER FORGET THEM. REPORTING IN PLACER COUNTY, ORKO MANNA KCRA THREE NEWS. INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL WAITING FOR A TOXICOLOGY REPORT FROM THE PLACER COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE TONIGHT. OFFICIALS HAVE NOT YET RELEASED THE NAMES OF THE THREE PEOPLE WHO DIED IN THE CAUSE
