Wednesday night police say Octavio Maldonado, 46, made a series of reckless decisions in downtown Auburn in his attempt to evade arrest. They say Maldonado drove head-on into an Auburn patrol unit, then while reversing his vehicle drove through construction scaffolding at Skybar, followed by another collision when he sideswiped a second APD unit before fleeing the scene.

Police were able to get Maldonado into custody before anyone got seriously hurt. He remains behind bars at the Lee County Detention Facility charged with DUI. Additional charges are pending.
