Auburn ‘quarterback of the future’ could help make 2024 class ‘special’

Walker White, the proclaimed Auburn football “quarterback of the future” by Auburn Daily’s Andrew Stefaniak, was deemed by the writer as potentially capable enough to help Hugh Freeze make the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class “special.”

“Auburn already having their quarterback of the future in White will help Coach Freeze sell what is to come on the Plains,” Stefaniak wrote. “White’s ability and excitement around finding great players to play with him will boost this 2024 class.  It’s safe to say that with the coaching staff and White working hard on the recruiting trail, Auburn could put together a special class in 2024.”

White has already made it a point to make a social media post for just about every recruit with even a passing interest in the Plains. His ambition combined with Freeze and Co.’s ability to get the deal done time and again these past few cycles make Stefaniak’s prediction far from going out on a limb.

Hugh Freeze reversed the dramatic fall of Auburn football recruiting

It cannot be overstated just how vital Freeze has been to the Auburn football program since he was hired in late November. Under the previous regime, led by the true victim of his own failures in his own mind, Bryan Harsin, the Tigers nearly slipped out of the top 15 in blue-chip ratio — aka the ratio of 4-star and 5-star recruits signed over 3-star and 4-stars.

Freeze has brought on an astounding 20 transfers in his first offseason running the ship. While the Oxford, Mississippi native used the portal to his advantage to build a contender at Liberty, his goal is now back to strengthening future high school classes in order to best make a sustainable model for winning in the SEC.

Landing White will only help the Class of 2024, but make no mistake about it: if White de-committed tomorrow, Freeze would still have this program on the right track.
