Stat Of The Day: Auburn's offensive line is lighter and shorter than last season's but much more skilled
Auburn has had a lot of offensive line struggles throughout the years, but Coach Hugh Freeze came in and added skilled players to the position in no time.
The question is how does Auburn's 2023 projected starting offensive line compare to the 2022 line size-wise.
Let's take a look.
Stat of the Day:
2022 Starting O-line Size
LT Kilian Zierer 6'7/312lbs
LG Brandon Council 6'4/328lbs
C Tate Johnson 6'4/285lbs
RG Keiondre Jones 6'4/340lbs
RT Austin Troxell 6'7/309lbs
Total Weight: 1,574 pounds
Total Height: 386 inches
2023 Projected Starting Offensive Line
LT Dillon Wade 6'3/307lbs
LG Jeremiah Wright 6'5/338lbs
C Avery Jones 6'4/307lbs
RG Tate Johnson 6'4/302lbs
RT Gunner Britton 6'6/312lbs
Total Weight: 1,566 pounds
Total Height: 382 inches
What does this mean?
Auburn's offensive line will be four inches shorter and eight pounds lighter in 2023 but much more technically skilled.
Size is a big part of offensive line play, but skill is much more important, and this Tiger line in 2023 will help this football team move the ball and put up more points.
Coach Freeze did an outstanding job landing so many talented offensive linemen in the transfer portal.
The improvement to the line has made this football team at least two wins better in 2023 than it was in 2022.
So Auburn's offensive line being a little bit smaller this season than a year ago isn't a concern for me in the least bit.
