The Auburn Tigers are gearing up for a fresh start under new head coach Hugh Freeze, who is looking to revitalize the roster in the upcoming 2023 season.

With a combination of returning starters, and transfers, the Tigers are expected to take a step forward and compete in the competitive SEC conference.

Although the roster may seem significantly changed due to Freeze's haul in the transfer portal, Auburn still has a healthy amount of production coming back.

To get a sense of Auburn's potential, let's take a closer look at their returning starters and production percentages:

  1. Texas A&M - 79.5% (82% offensive, 77% defensive)
  2. Missouri - 78.5% (77% offensive, 80% defensive)
  3. LSU - 70.5% (81% offensive, 60% defensive)
  4. Auburn - 71.5% (72% offensive, 71% defensive)
  5. Ole Miss - 71% (80% offensive, 62% defensive)
  6. Kentucky - 63% (71% offensive, 55% defensive)
  7. Tennessee - 63% (57% offensive, 69% defensive)
  8. Vanderbilt - 64.5% (73% offensive, 56% defensive)
  9. Georgia - 61% (52% offensive, 70% defensive)
  10. Mississippi State - 57% (71% offensive, 43% defensive)
  11. South Carolina - 55.5% (63% offensive, 48% defensive)
  12. Arkansas - 54.5% (58% offensive, 51% defensive)
  13. Florida - 54% (55% offensive, 53% defensive)
  14. Alabama - 40.5% (43% offensive, 38% defensive)

The Tigers rank 4th in the SEC in returning production, good for 28th nationally. As for starters:

  1. Texas A&M - 15 (7 offensive, 8 defensive)
  2. Kentucky - 14 (8 offensive, 6 defensive)
  3. Missouri - 14 (6 offensive, 8 defensive)
  4. Georgia - 13 (6 offensive, 7 defensive)
  5. LSU - 13 (8 offensive, 5 defensive)
  6. Ole Miss - 13 (8 offensive, 5 defensive)
  7. Tennessee - 13 (7 offensive, 6 defensive)
  8. Auburn - 11 (3 offensive, 8 defensive)
  9. Arkansas - 8 (4 offensive, 4 defensive)
  10. Vanderbilt - 13 (6 offensive, 7 defensive)
  11. Florida - 10 (6 offensive, 4 defensive)
  12. Mississippi State - 11 (7 offensive, 4 defensive)
  13. South Carolina - 10 (6 offensive, 4 defensive)
  14. Alabama - 9 (4 offensive, 5 defensive)

Sure, they may only be bringing back three starters on offense, but the starters that left didn't seem to leave a dent in their production.
