Thoughts and takeaways from Auburn football's March 20th practice

Here are some thoughts from Monday's Auburn football practice.

We are seeing a familiar scene every time we get a glimpse into how Hugh Freeze is running spring during his first year as the Auburn head coach.

After meeting with the media, he invited those in attendance to come out earlier than what was originally scheduled. When we got out there, it was a lot of running through warm-up drills with players participating with no helmets on. After a few reps, they went and stretch in groups based on position.

We saw the pace drill where Robby Ashford took snaps with the first group. Then TJ Finley with the second unit. Holden Geriner led the third unit.

The starting offensive line looked different than in previous sessions due to Tate Johnson probably missing the rest of the spring due to an elbow injury.

Here's what we saw for the starting OL:

LT- Dillon Wade
LG- Connow Lew
C-Avery Jones
RG- Jeremiah Wright
RT- Gunner Britton

The order that the running backs went through drills was:

Jarquez Hunter
Damari Alston
Sean Jackson
Brian Battie
Justin Jones
Luke Reebals

You can watch the quarterbacks throw below:

Watching the linebackers, the pairing that was in for most of the viewing window was Austin Keys and Wesley Steiner. We saw some of Robert Woodyard and Cam Riley as well. Ron Roberts was really coaching the group up. Coach Freeze shared that the linebacker room was the position group where they felt like there has been a lot of improvement over spring camp.

For the entirety of the viewing window, Freeze was not coaching. He was spending time getting to know the recruits that were in attendance on their visits to the Plains. When I walked by, they were talking a lot of scheme.
