Atmore man arrested for possession on April 24

An Atmore man was arrested April 24 on a possession charge, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Thomas White, 62, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

McMann said an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Medical Park Drive at 12:35 a.m. on the day of the arrest in reference to an expired tag. The officer then contacted White.

“White was acting strangely, which led to the officer requesting consent to search the vehicle,” McMann said. “Upon searching the vehicle, the officer discovered approximately 1 gram of synthetic cannabis (spice).”

White was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
