Atmore police seek motive, suspect in shooting that killed 1, injured another

Atmore police are investigating a Monday homicide which left one man dead and another person with serious injuries.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Carver Avenue and King Street about 2:15 p.m. Monday.

Arriving at the scene, they found two victims -- one identified as Robert Starks of Atmore; the other remains unidentified. Starks later died from his wounds, while the second victim was transported to a local trauma center.

No one is in custody and no motive has been established, according to a release from the Atmore Police Department. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and hope to locate additional witnesses.
