Motorcyclist Charged In DUI Crash That Killed Passenger In Atlantic City: Prosecutor

A 50-year-old motorcyclist from South Jersey has been charged in connection with the death of a passenger in an alcohol-related crash, authorities said.

Joseph J. Melini of Vineland was charged with vehicular homicide on Monday, June 5, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

On Oct. 30, 2021, at 8:10 p.m., Melini was involved in a crash in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue in Atlantic City while operating a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, the prosecutor said.

Melini’s passenger, Naisha Peterson, 36, of Mays Landing, was pronounced dead at the crash scene, the prosecutor said.

Subsequent investigation revealed Melini was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, the prosecutor said.
