Atlanta Rabbits

Atlanta’s baseball team thrashed Paul Pewitt 28-10 in a five-inning game on Apr. 16. The Rabbits were up 5-0 going into the third frame where they exploded for 16 runs.

Easton Whatley struck out three batters, Eli Stevens sat down four and Eli Dryden struck out all three batters he faced.

Peyton Harrison had himself a day at the plate as he hit a solo homerun and an inside the park grand slam, Easton Owens was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Will Woodruff was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Cason Whatley was 2-for-3 with a double and three ribeyes, Chris Hale was 2-for-4 with a double and two ribbies, Eli Mitchell hit an RBI double, Peyton Gaston had a couple of knocks with an RBI, Evan Mitchell was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Michael Dubuisson hit a 2-RBI single and Brady Partain had three hits with two RBIs.

Lady Rabbits

Atlanta’s softball team wrapped up its season with a bang as the Lady Rabbs defeated Paul Pewitt 19-4 in five innings.

The Lady Rabbs scored early and often as they plated 10 runs in the first inning alone. Gabby Arredondo and Micheala Knight combined for five strikeouts from the circle.

Tori Clayton was 3-for-3 with a 2-run homerun, a double and five RBIs, Kalissa Reliford was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, Anna Davis was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Carlajah Adger hit a single, Brylee Fiscus hit an RBI single, Kinlee Hamilton added a single, Knight was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Keirsten Underwood had two knocks with two ribbies and gabby Petrofsky added an RBI.

Linden-Kildare Tigers On Apr. 16, Linden-Kildare’s baseball squad won a 5-4 nailbiter game against James Bowie in extra innings.

The Tigers had a 3-0 lead going into the final frame, but the Pirates scored four runs in the top half to take a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom half of the seventh, Peyton Foreman’s patience at the dish paid off as he drew a walk before Tylton Surratt was hit by a pitch.

Both runners advanced a base on a passed ball and Foreman scored the tying run on an infield hit off the bat of Logan Hankins.

In the bottom half of the eighth frame, the Pirates found themselves in trouble as Keegan Surratt was hit by a pitch, Max Belford singled and Maysen Lemmon walked to load the bases with no outs.

Foreman hit a solid ground ball and Surratt scored the winning run. Lemmon pitched the entire game, scattered eight hits and struck out eight batters. From the plate Lemmon was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Foreman added a hit with two RBIs, Logan Hankins had an RBI, Hugh Tyson added two hits and Ethan Churchman, Belford, Keegan Surratt and Tylton Surratt posted singles.

Lady Longhorns vs. Lady Tigers

On Apr. 16, McLeod and Linden-Kildare’s softball teams met for a district scuffle. Coming into the fray McLeod had won both meetings so far against the Lady Tigers.

The game was a close affair with two solid performances from both pitchers but in the end the Lady Longhorns outlasted L-K 2-0.

Kenslee Cross gave up five hits, walked one and struck out seven for the Lady ’Horns. Cross, Madison Blair, Nyah Dempsey and Taylor Dees all hit singles in the contest.

Ada Whatley gave up four hits with two walks and five Ks for the Lady Tigers. Ally-Jo Dixon hit a triple and Breleigh Conejo, Hannah Wall, Kaycee Neville and Olivia Stewart recorded singles in the game.

Queen City

On Apr. 15, Queen City’s softball team wrapped up its third consecutive district title with a 12-1 win over New Boston.

In that span the Lady Bulldogs are 74-20 overall and 34-2 in district play. Trinity Oden capped off another successful campaign from the circle as she scattered four hits and struck out 17.

On the season Oden struck out 239 batters and has a 1.15 ERA. From the dish she leads the team with seven homers and 32 RBIs.

Mallori Stringer was on fire in this contest as she crushed a 2-run homerun, hit a double and drove in three runs, Lauren Carrell was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, Laurel Moore added two knocks with two ribbies, Brenna Turbeville and Serenity Oden added singles, Keeli Mainer had a hit with three RBIs and Paitynn Weeks hit an RBI single.
