The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of talented quarterbacks on their roster after signing veteran Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal this offseason, drafting Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick, and bringing back veteran quarterback Taylor Heinicke. But it sounds like the team was still trying to add another quarterback anyway.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons tried to sign former CFL star Nathan Rourke this week before he was ultimately awarded to the New York Giants instead.

“The Atlanta Falcons — who signed QB Kirk Cousins during free agency and then selected QB Michael Penix during the draft — put in a waiver claim this week for former Patriots and Jaguars QB Nathan Rourke, who was awarded to the New York Giants, per source,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, it’s pretty interesting that the Falcons continue to try to load up on quarterback talent this offseason, and the attempted move led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see whether or not the Falcons try to land another quarterback after missing out on Rourke.
