Taylor Mikesell is returning to the WNBA.

The Jackson High School graduate and former Ohio State star signed with the Atlanta Dream on Monday.

Mikesell was waived by the Indiana Fever, the team that drafted her, prior to the season opener last month. Mikesell went 13th overall in April's draft. She competed all through training camp for a roster spot, appearing in one preseason game in which she scored five points in 14 minutes May 7 vs. the Chicago Sky.

At Ohio State, she was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection. Despite only playing two years for the Buckeyes, she finished fourth in school history in 3-pointers made (230) and 25th in points (1,215). She also set the program record for free-throw percentage (.878), and her 3-point percentage (.442) ranks her second all-time. Mikesell ended her college career with one of her finest performances, scoring 25 points and matching her career high with seven 3-pointers in an 84-74 regional final loss to Virginia Tech. The seven 3s are the most made by a Buckeye in an NCAA Tournament game.

Prior to her time at OSU, she spent two seasons at Maryland and one at Oregon. She graduated from Jackson as Stark County's career scoring leader (2,175 points) and now ranks second behind Kierstan Bell, who is in her second year with the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces. Mikesell scored a county-record 60 points with 14 3-pointers in her final regular-season home game at Jackson.

Mikesell returned home to Stark County following her release by the Fever and has spent the past couple of weeks working on her game to be ready for her next shot in the WNBA.

Atlanta is 2-3 on the season and play the New York Liberty on Friday.
