Falcons sign veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons have bolstered their team, adding a defensive lineman with a ton of NFL experience.

The team signed Calais Campbell to a 1-year contract, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

The 36-year-old Campbell has spent 15 years in the NFL, most recently with the Baltimore Ravens from 2020 to 2022.

Last season in Baltimore, Campbell finished with 5.5 sacks, and 36 tackles.

The terms of the contract remain unclear.

Campbell, a four-time pro bowler, won the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2019. which is an award given to a player for their community service activities off the field and excellence on the field.

Campbell is the latest addition to the Falcons’ defense made this free agency period. The Falcons signed defensive tackle David Onyemata and safety Jessie Bates to multi-year contracts this offseason.

The Falcons will hope these additions can bolster a defense that was among the worst in the NFL in 2022.
