The Falcons are adding to the receiver core as Adam Schefter reports the club is signing former Buccaneers wideout Scotty Miller on a one-year deal.

The position group could likely still use some addressing. Miller joins Drake London and Mack Hollins as the only receivers with any real experience, likely slotting in as the WR3 and ahead of Jared Bernhardt, Frank Darby, Josh Ali and Ra’Shaun Henry.

The 26-year-old will be heading to a different city for the first time in his career after spending the last few seasons in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers drafted Miller in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, with his best season coming in 2020 with Tom Brady. He logged 33 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns.

Most recently, Miller appeared in 15 games with one start in 2022, logging 258 offensive snaps and 133 on special teams, which is the most special teams snaps he has played in his career.

If you notice, Scotty Miller isn’t like Atlanta’s other pass catchers; he stands just 5’9, 175, but he brings a different skill set to the group. He’s a deep threat and is going to stretch the field for the Falcons offense with his 4.4 speed. He averaged over 15 yards per catch in 2020; expect a similar role in Atlanta.

The Falcons now have a versatile depth piece who can take the top off a defense. Miller can run a decent amount of the route tree, has inside/outside versatility, provides a veteran presence to an otherwise young position group, and can provide value on special teams. I’m high on this one.
