The Falcons announced on Wednesday a free agent signing to bolster their defensive front depth, inking a deal with former Chargers defender Joe Gaziano to a one-year contract.
Gaziano has been in Los Angeles since 2020, when he entered the league as an undrafted free agent, working his way up from the Chargers practice squad. Across three seasons, he’s logged snaps in 21 games, 14 of which came in 2020.
His stats aren’t anything to write home about — one sack, two tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits. The Northwestern product is set to be a reserve defensive lineman and special teamer for the Falcons. Still, he’s 26 years old and was regarded as a technician coming out of college, so maybe there’s some potential to be realized.
Most likely, he’ll provide breathers for Grady Jarrett, Ta’Quon Graham, Eddie Goldman, and David Onyemata when needed.
