FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The driver of a medical transport van that crashed and killed two women has turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail.

John Walker was driving a medical transport van along Campbellton Road in Atlanta on Monday when he hit a curb and caused a head-on collision, according to police.

Jada Whatley, 29, of East Point, and Tiquita Miles, 32, or Covington, were both killed during a head-on collision on Campbellton on Monday. Police said a medical SUV and an SUV crashed, killing one driver and an EMT.

Walker’s attorney, Jackie Patterson, says his client is being charged with vehicular homicide and other traffic offenses.

“My client, he’s traumatized. He’s completely traumatized knowing that two people lost their lives,” his attorney said.

Walker also suffered severe fractures to his ankle during the crash and will likely require surgery, Patterson said.

Teacher Irvinna Jenkins just learned to perform CPR, so she jumped into action to try to help the victims.

“It was just a horrific scene,” Jenkins said. “I went back to see if the guy who was driving the ambulance was ok. He was physically shaking.”

Walker is scheduled to make a first court appearance at 2 p.m. on Friday. Patterson expects to have him out of custody shortly after the hearing.
