ASTORIA, Ore. —
A U.S. Coast Guard aircrew from Astoria evacuated a 45-year-old man off a 900-foot container ship early Sunday after suffering a medical emergency.

Officials say the man was aboard the vessel 60 miles west of Astoria when he reportedly suffered a heart attack.

The aircrew hoisted him up into the helicopter and he was taken to an awaiting ambulance to be transported to a local hospital.
