50 Yard Line Sports Bar and Grill opens in downtown Columbia. Here's what's on the menu
The name of a new downtown Columbia sports bar beckons patrons to what are traditionally known as the best seats in the house. 50 Yard Line Sports Bar and Grill recently opened at 807 E. Walnut St., in shouting distance of Columbia institutions such as The Blue Note and the Boone County Courthouse square.

A buzzing crowd decked out in Burney Sisters gear gathers outside Rose Music Hall on a Sunday evening. It feels more like a family reunion than a sold-out show. The Burney Sisters have been playing shows in Columbia for nearly a decade. As their career kicks into high gear, the family band has made the decision to move closer to the country music action in Nashville. They played their last show in Columbia - for now - on April 7th.

An angler from Columbia, Missouri, named Stan (no last name provided) landed this nice 24-inch brown trout on the White River near Calico Rock, fishing out of Jenkins Fishing Service and Motel. Conditions have been near perfect on the river, according to Dave McCulley, who runs the resort. Anglers have been catching numerous brown trout of 18 inches or more in length, including one that was 26 inches, and rainbows are also biting nicely.
Blues in the Schools mural painted over after 13 years
Since 2011, the Blues in the Schools mural has been a notable feature of the North Village Arts District, but a new work is coming to the wall in the near future. The mural, located at 1020 E. Walnut St., was painted by community members and local children. The decision to paint over the mural came from the building’s managers.
