Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries following crash in Wisconsin
SANBORN, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say one man suffered serious injuries Sunday afternoon following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in northern Wisconsin. According to a release from the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel from the City of Ashland, the Bad River Fire Department, and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office responded at 2:24 p.m. for multiple calls about a crash at the intersection of US Highway 2 and Maple Street in the Township of Sanborn.

Projects in Ashland and Bayfield counties received a total of $3 million in funding marked for behavioral health services. The funding, announced by Sen. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties until 10 am where localized additional snow of 1-3″ is possible. Accumulation wraps up this morning, but light snow or wintry mix may linger along the South Shore through the day, melting on impact as temps rise above freezing. Winds aren’t as strong as yesterday, but a breezy north wind remains with the strongest gusts early this morning. Clouds are thickest in Wisconsin with decreasing clouds moving west across northern Minnesota. The Twin Ports will see mostly cloudy skies overall today with a high near 44. Highs approach 50 near Bigfork and Aitkin, then the thermometer falls looking east with a high near 36 in Ironwood.
Mellen disbands police department; City will contract with AC Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement
The Mellen Police Department is in its final days after the city’s leadership approved its dissolution. This comes as Police Chief Larry Koivisto has reduced his role to part-time, working 16 hours a week, because he has taken a new job, Mayor Terry Van Buren said.
