Man arrested on gun, drug charges in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested on gun and drug charges after fleeing from police in Asheville on Monday.

According to the Asheville Police Department, officers were conducting crime prevention on Haw Creek Road and Spruce Hill Court around 5:20 p.m. when officers attempted to make contact with 35-year-old Parish Dewight Suber.

As officers attempted to make contact, Suber ran on foot. While running from officers, Suber dropped drugs and a gun.

Shortly after, Suber was taken into custody and charged with:

  • possession of firearm by felon
  • trafficking methamphetamine by transport
  • trafficking methamphetamine by possession
  • trafficking in opium or heroin by transport
  • trafficking in opium or heroin by possession
  • maintain a vehicle for controlled substance
  • simple possession Schedule II
  • misdemeanor flee to elude with motor vehicle
  • resisting, relating or obstructing an officer

The following items were seized:

  • Springfield XD pistol (.40 cal)
  • 60.54 grams of methamphetamine
  • 8.84 grams of fentanyl
  • 1DU oxycodone

Suber was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $203,000 bond.
