NOVA SCOTIA. IN DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE, POLICE SAY THAT A MAN WAS FOUND WITH SEVEN STAB WOUNDS TO HIS NECK AND HIS FACE. THIS HAPPENED JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT THURSDAY AT THE 440 BLOCK OF HAYWOOD ROAD. A man has serious injuries after being stabbed seven times in the face and neck in downtown Asheville, according to police. Officers were called about midnight Thursday to the 440 block of Haywood Road around for reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they said the suspect had already run away. Two victims were found, one of which had been stabbed seven times in the neck and face.The victim was taken to Mission Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. After an initial investigation, officers said they identified Larry Vernon Minish, 62, as a suspect.Officers canvassed the nearby area and found Minish, along with physical evidence, near State Street and took him into custody.Minish was charged with the following:Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to killAssault with a deadly weaponResist/ Delay/ObstructPossession of drug paraphernaliaMinish is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $251,000 secured bond issued by the magistrate.

A man has serious injuries after being stabbed seven times in the face and neck in downtown Asheville, according to police.

Officers were called about midnight Thursday to the 440 block of Haywood Road around for reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they said the suspect had already run away.

Two victims were found, one of which had been stabbed seven times in the neck and face.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The second victim that was assaulted was able to stay on the scene and help officers identify the suspect.

After an initial investigation, officers said they identified Larry Vernon Minish, 62, as a suspect.

Officers canvassed the nearby area and found Minish, along with physical evidence, near State Street and took him into custody.

Minish was charged with the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Resist/ Delay/Obstruct
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Minish is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $251,000 secured bond issued by the magistrate.
