One killed in single-vehicle crash in Randolph County
WINCHESTER, Ind. — One person was killed late Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident in Randolph County. According to Indiana State Police, Jason Beckley, 44 — of Mebane, North Carolina, about 25 miles northwest of Durham — was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, along Randolph County Road 300-W north of Ind. 32.

Press Release: Thomasville battles multi-family house fire
Late Wednesday night, Thomasville firefighters responded to a multi-family, high-life hazard structure fire that has displaced 20 residents. At 10:28 p.m., firefighters were sent to 301 James Avenue. Police in the vicinity also arrived quickly and immediately began evacuating the involved and adjacent apartments. At 10:32 p.m., the first arriving fire officer confirmed a heavily involved structure fire with flames through the roof. The house is a two-story, eight-unit apartment building owned and operated by the Thomasville Housing Authority.

Greenway bridge damaged in wreck
HIGH POINT — A section of the High Point Greenway remains closed indefinitely after it was damaged in a hit-and-run crash. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu ran off Deep River Road and struck a wooden pedestrian bridge near Gordon Road around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 24, according to High Point Police Department reports.
Franklinville Resident, John Christopher Sykes, Arrested for Felony Car Theft on Allred Street
On October 18, 2023, a car theft was reported on Allred Street, Franklinville. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report. The victim told the officers that a witness saw a flatbed truck loading the stolen car. During the investigation, two neighbors said they spoke with John Christopher Sykes, who was at the scene in another car.
