The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees will have to go back to the drawing board to continue the search for a new superintendent.

Dr. Michelle Cavazos, the lone finalist for the Arlington school district's superintendent position has bowed out, instead signing a new 5 year contract with the Gregory-Portland school district in south Texas, where she currently serves as superintendent.

The Arlington school board got the news last night.

“We understand the enormity of the position we’re trying to fill and are committed to continuing our search to identify top candidates” said Arlington ISD Board President Melody Fowler.

The Arlington ISD board plans to meet tomorrow afternoon to resume the search for a new superintendent. Dr. Marcelo Cavazos, the Arlington ISD superintendent, will continue leading the district.
