WICKENBURG, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- A growing brush fire forced one direction of the U.S. 93 to close near Wickenburg early Wednesday morning. The highway has since reopened as the fire burns north of town, near milepost 143. Traffic officials shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. 93 as crews got a handle of the blaze, but they reopened around 9:45 a.m. At this time, it’s also unclear when the fire sparked or how much it’s grown. Aerial video from Arizona’s Family news chopper showed a tanker truck that was engulfed in flames and was tipped on its side a few hundred feet from the highway. Details about the truck driver or details surrounding the rollover haven’t been released.

The beehive is in a neighborhood near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads. The firefighter was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Three others are being treated at the scene, officials said.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- A child is in the hospital after being hit by a police cruiser in Phoenix on Wednesday evening. Sgt. Brian Bower with Phoenix Police said just before 6 p.m., a patrol officer and assistant had just finished a call when they were turning near 11th Avenue and Yuma Road. As they were driving, they saw a young girl waving at them from the front yard of a home, trying to get their attention. However, as officers were waving at the girl, they saw another child in the road at the last minute, Bower said. The officer tried to stop but unfortunately struck the child.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Phoenix fire officials battled a large house fire early Wednesday morning in near north Scottsdale. Phoenix fire officials tell Arizona’s Family that they were called out to a home near 56th Street and Bell Road at 3 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out of the structure. Video of the scene showed thick black smoke billowing throughout the neighborhood, with eyewitnesses reporting that some smoke could even be seen from the Loop 101 freeway a couple of miles north.

Glendale police responded around 2:40 a.m. to a crash near Glendale Avenue and El Mirage Road and found that the deputy’s white pickup truck and another vehicle had collided. The deputy and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police say speed and impairment are likely factors for the driver and that an investigation is ongoing.

In documents obtained by Arizona’s Family, 30-year-old Rebecca Paulina Rodriguez allegedly shot and killed 32-year-old Adrian Cantu Silva while dropping him off in front of his home near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road. On May 23, according to police papers, the two were out together along with Rodriguez’s friend Rosa Mae Mendoza.

Scottsdale fire arrived at an apartment complex near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads to a swarm of bees attacking three people. Crews wore bee hoods and protective gear to guide the people to a safe area where paramedics treated them. A Phoenix firefighter was stung during the call, taken to the hospital in stable condition, and released on Thursday. Scottsdale fire says two people were also taken to the hospital in stable condition, while one person refused to go.
