The beehive is in a neighborhood near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads. The firefighter was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Three others are being treated at the scene, officials said.

WICKENBURG, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- A growing brush fire forced one direction of the U.S. 93 to close near Wickenburg early Wednesday morning. The highway has since reopened as the fire burns north of town, near milepost 143. Traffic officials shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. 93 as crews got a handle of the blaze, but they reopened around 9:45 a.m. At this time, it’s also unclear when the fire sparked or how much it’s grown. Aerial video from Arizona’s Family news chopper showed a tanker truck that was engulfed in flames and was tipped on its side a few hundred feet from the highway. Details about the truck driver or details surrounding the rollover haven’t been released.

Tenants can also leave early for $1,000 and have moving expenses covered. It’s happening in Mesa near Main Street and Alma School Road. “I’m 60; this is home,” said Wendy Studebaker. She is one of eight people with SMI that she calls a family but is now told they must leave. “We are going to be torn apart, torn apart all eight of us,” said Studebaker.

Brian Bower with Phoenix Police said just before 6 p.m., a patrol officer and assistant had just finished a call when they were turning near 11th Avenue and Yuma Road. As they were driving, they saw a young girl waving at them from the front yard of a home, trying to get their attention. However, as officers were waving at the girl, they saw another child in the road at the last minute, Bower said. The officer tried to stop but unfortunately struck the child.

It’s just frustrating, to say the least. I could throw in some other words, probably. But frustrating pretty much covers it,” said Kranz. “The last technician that looked at it said, I don’t know how it’s still running. That pretty much summed it up.”

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A man is in custody after allegedly stealing over $100,000 of perfumes from multiple fragrance stores in Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, and Phoenix. The thefts started in June 2022 when 37-year-old Jose Luis Acosta walked into an Ulta Beauty store near Baseline and Copper roads, filled a pillowcase with $2959 worth of fragrances, and left the store without paying, court documents say. According to police, from Aug. 2022 - May 30, 2023, Acosta went to 10 more Ulta Beauty stores throughout the east Valley, where he shoved perfumes into duffle bags and pillowcases before fleeing the store. His thefts during these months totaled $39,740.98. Police say Acosta was in and out of the store within a minute during these crimes.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — A woman has been arrested after shooting and killing a man two weeks ago in a west Phoenix neighborhood. In documents obtained by Arizona’s Family, 30-year-old Rebecca Paulina Rodriguez allegedly shot and killed 32-year-old Adrian Cantu Silva while dropping him off in front of his home near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road. On May 23, according to police papers, the two were out together along with Rodriguez’s friend Rosa Mae Mendoza.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A firefighter is out of the hospital after being stung during a bee attack call in Scottsdale on Wednesday evening. Scottsdale fire arrived at an apartment complex near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads to a swarm of bees attacking three people. Crews wore bee hoods and protective gear to guide the people to a safe area where paramedics treated them. A Phoenix firefighter was stung during the call, taken to the hospital in stable condition, and released on Thursday. Scottsdale fire says two people were also taken to the hospital in stable condition, while one person refused to go.

GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash early Wednesday morning in Glendale. Glendale police responded around 2:40 a.m. to a crash near Glendale Avenue and El Mirage Road and found that the deputy’s white pickup truck and another vehicle had collided. The deputy and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police say speed and impairment are likely factors for the driver and that an investigation is ongoing.
