Breadsticks on the way: Tallahassee Fazoli's opening date released
Fazoli's is coming to Tallahassee soon. And by soon, we mean mark your calendars for May 5. Franchise owner Steve Wilkens posted on Facebook Jan. 14: "Thank you for being patient as we bring back the breadsticks." The new store is under construction at the Mahan Village Shopping Plaza, 3122 Mahan Drive. Wilkens says the new building will have an outside patio and the first double drive-thru in the franchise. They may need it after how long Tallahassee's foodies have been waiting for the Italian-American food chain's arrival. The rumors of a new Fazoli's started in 2022. For almost two years now, Wilkens has put out fires that follow any time the word "Fazoli's" is posted in a social media group. The only things people had been holding onto for the last three years are the promises of Wilkens, a yellow "coming soon" sign and the memories of the Fazoli's where they once indulged. Construction began Oct. 13, with the help of Tip Top Construction, which has handled projects for other local restaurants, including Culver's on Apalachee Parkway, as well as Siam Bistro on Bannerman Boulevard and Piesanos Pizza on North Blair Stone Road. Red Shed of Tallahassee reopens with Cuban cuisine and Cheers vibe
The rumors are true. The Red Shed restaurant once noted as a "Best of Tallahassee" barbecue joint in 2023 and recognized by its gigantic chicken mascot "Cluck Norris," has returned under new ownership and a new identity, Red Shed of Tallahassee. Don't worry — it's the same funky vibe you know and love, just with a little Cuban flair. You can still grub on some barbecue at The Red Shed in Eastpoint, Florida. The Crump Road operation is spearheaded by new owner Tommy Alonso with the help of his wife Shantell. Their mission to "keep the tradition going" as he previously stated in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat remains unchanged. How he plans to do it — by "keeping everything crazy." Alonso proudly notes all the eclectic knick-knacks around the rustic restaurant that he's maintained in the transition and added onto as well, like games and pool tables.
