A picture of a similar make, model and color vehicle to the one sought in connection to the hit and run was provided by the CHP.

Yesterday, June 7, the California Highway Patrol responded to the 7th Street overcrossing on Hwy 101 in Arcata where they had learned a body was in the center divide after a 45-year-old man was left by a hit and run driver sometime the previous evening. Today, they released the name of the victim and provided the make of the vehicle involved in the collision. They again asked for the public’s help in locating the driver.

They wrote in a press release this morning, “The deceased subject has been positively identified by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office as 45-year-old Chad Macias of Reno, Nevada. Mr. Macias’ next-of-kin has been notified and the California Highway Patrol extends our sincerest condolences to them at this time.”

The press release also stated, “Additionally, further analysis of vehicle debris near the scene has been identified as belonging to a 2015-2017 Audi A3, which will likely have damage to the driver side and be missing the driver side mirror.”

They request that “Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to immediately contact the Humboldt Area CHP office at (707) 822-5981 during business hours, or (707) 268-2000 after business hours. lnformation may also be emailed to [email protected].”

I’m sure all body shops in the area, and for some unknown radius, have been notified.

I really wish some of this same effort would have been put in on Lynn Bagley hit & run suspect.
That being said I really hope the driver of both can be held responsible

The previous article states that the passenger side mirror was missing… No note of error or redaction.

Can’t they get the color of the car from the debris? That might help, right?

Are we sure it’s passenger side mirror? How did he end up in the center divide if right side of car made contact with pedestrian.

This is so awful. I feel great sympathy for his family and friends. I hope the cowardly driver is caught.
