Pikeville pedestrian bridge closes for repairs
Citing safety concerns, the City of Pikeville has closed the Seventh Street pedestrian bridge until repairs can be made. The closure took effect Aug. 30, following routine inspections that revealed concerning structural issues. City Engineer Brad Slone said that while the bridge had been scheduled for repairs as part of a regular maintenance plan, the recent assessments indicated that the situation had worsened significantly and the bridge would need to be closed.
