An 18-year-old man has turned himself into the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office after being involved in a murder that occurred at a Wawa gas station.

Tyler Harnage, 18, of Apollo Beach is accused of 3rd-degree murder with a firearm and great bodily harm and death, deputies say.

Deputies say they obtained a warrant for Harnage's arrest on Tuesday. The same day, accompanied by his attorney, he turned himself into Orient Road Jail without incident on Tuesday.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on May 10 at around 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting at a Wawa at the corner of US Highway 301 and Gibson Drive.

At the scene, deputies and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue located an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.

"I commend the hard work of the detectives who worked tirelessly to solve the case and find the suspect responsible for not only the death of another individual but putting the lives of others in danger through his careless and violent ways," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "He did the right thing in turning himself in to face the consequences of his actions."
