Man found shot dead in car in Antioch, police investigating

( KRON ) — Police are investigating after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning, the Antioch Police Department said. Antioch PD officers responded at around 5:22 a.m. to the 600 block of East 18th Street.

ConFire reported to Antioch PD regarding a man found deceased of an apparent gunshot wound. Officers arrived and located the man, a 36-year-old Antioch resident, deceased inside of a parked vehicle.

He had suffered at least one gunshot wound, police said. The investigation was taken over by Crime Scene Investigators and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit attached to Antioch PD’s Investigations Bureau.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident appears to be isolated, police said, and there is no immediate threat to the community.

The investigation is active and police are declining to release additional information at this time.
