The Anthony Police Department is searching for a woman's son who reportedly stabbed her with a machete Monday morning.
Officials said the incident happened at 1300 Livesay Street around 9 a.m.
Officials said officers responded to the domestic call.
Officials said the woman is expected to survive.
Due to the incident, seven feeder schools and a district facility in the Gadsden High School feeder pattern area were placed on "shelter in place" as a precaution.
It's unknown if the man has been taken into custody.
Neighbors in the area said while it's a quiet neighborhood they will be more cautious after this incident.
"Still kinda shocked even just hearing that like son stabbed his own mom," said Martin Valles.
"I was mind blown, to be honest with you," said Anthony Gonzalez. "If someone here that lives around here did that to their own parents imagine if he’s loose if he’s still out here that’s of course I’m gonna be kind of scared for my grandmother and my whole family here."
