We thought we had won $1m Powerball prize – then 20 minutes later realized we accidentally won double
A LOTTERY-playing couple revealed how their $1 million prize was accidentally doubled within minutes.
The pair from Annapolis, Maryland shared they had purchased identical Powerball tickets which brought their win up to a cool $2 million.
This couple, who chose to remain anonymous, explained how they landed on such good lotto luck.
The pair said they had visited a 7-Eleven store to scan their old tickets and see if any had won them cash.
A special feature named the replay feature meant new tickets were created as a player scanned their old ones.
These new tickets are then printed with the same set of numbers that were previously played.

Some of these tickets had already been replayed so many were duplicates with the same numbers, but the couple said they did not realize this at first, according to Maryland Lottery.
The man explained that he took himself down to the 7-Eleven store on April 1 for a specific reason.
“I only play when it's over a billion dollars," he said.
Although the couple did not win the billion dollars, they explained how they found out they both became millionaires.
The man discovered the first $1 million slip as he was checking through his tickets the next day.
“I looked at it and I went to the Powerball site,” he said.
“I saw the numbers and I said, ‘No!’”
He also found four winning Powerball tickets worth $4 each.
The couple said they celebrated the news and went back to look through their other tickets and found their second million winning slip.
“We had our crying moment,” he said.
