Michigan wrestling All-American Cameron Amine entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed.

Going into next season, Amine is a sixth year senior but will seemingly wrestle elsewhere next winter. He went 16-9 last season, finishing in the Blood Round at the NCAA Tournament.

Amine is a three-time All-American, finishing 7th in 2021 and 4th in ’22 and ’23, respectively.

Overall, Amine has a 64-25 career record with the Wolverines. It’ll be a bit of a hole in the Michigan lineup at 165 pounds next year.

Amine has a big family history when it comes to wrestling. His brother Jordan wrestled at Michigan from 2015-18.

His uncle Mike (1986-89) and cousins Malik (2016-19) and Myles (2017-22) also wrestled at Michigan. Myles Amine was an NCAA finalist in 2022 and was also an Olympic Bronze Medalist during the 2021 Summer Games.

Cameron Amine enters transfer portal, Michigan lands veterans for 2024-25

Cameron Amine is out for now while Michigan loaded up with a couple of other transfers this spring. The Wolverines landed Michigan State’s Chase Saldate and Cornell’s Jacob Cardenas.

“I’m Excited to announce my commitment to the University of Michigan,” Saldate wrote. “Thank you to everyone at Michigan State University it was a great 4 years. I’m excited for this next chapter of chasing my dreams. #GoBlue.”

A career 157 pounder, Saldate will presumably replace Will Lewan, a former two-time All-American for the Wolverines. However, the latter did not place on the podium this past season.

Saldate went 82-33 in four years at Michigan State and made it to NCAAs each season. However, he went 0-2 this year in Kansas City at 157 pounds (his career weight).

“Taking this show on the road,” Cardenas wrote on Instagram. “Thank you Ithaca for the lasting memories. Next stop Ann Arbor.”

Cardenas finished 4th at 197 at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He was 27-8 this season en route to his second All-American finish.

He placed 8th in 2023 and qualified for the tournament back in 2022, going 1-2 at those championships. Cardenas is 70-22 in his career and should be on the shortlist of national title contenders in 2025.

The new additions are solid for Michigan but there will be suitors for Amine if he chooses to not return to the Wolverines.
