Four-star 2024 Ohio Running Back Jordan Marshall Commits to Michigan

One of Ohio State's top running back targets for the 2024 class is headed north.

Four-star Ohio running back Jordan Marshall committed to Michigan on Tuesday, picking the Buckeyes' archrival over staying in-state. Marshall was down to a final four of OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin and Tennessee.

OSU doesn't lose top-tier Ohio prospects to Michigan often, as Marshall is the first top-100 nationally-ranked player in 247Sports' composite rankings from Ohio to choose the Wolverines since Dymonte Thomas in the 2013 recruiting class.

The news is obviously a blow to Ohio State, who would have much preferred to keep Marshall in-state instead of facing him on a yearly basis. But the Buckeyes don't have a shortage of options to turn to now that Marshall is no longer in the picture.

Four-star Texas prospect James Peoples becomes arguably the Buckeyes' top target at the position from a pure talent perspective, while three-star Ohio tailback Sam Williams-Dixon becomes OSU's top in-state option. OSU will likely look to land both, as the Buckeyes hope to take two running backs in the 2024 cycle. Peoples will be taking a spring visit to OSU March 30-April 1, while Williams-Dixon has already visited Columbus earlier this spring.

Four-star Florida running back Jordan Lyle is scheduled to visit OSU this week, while other options include Stacy Gage, Jerrick Gibson and Florida commit Chauncey Bowens, among others.
