Person in critical condition after mini-bike crash in Anderson

Trey Hewitt, 26, is recovering at a hospital in Indianapolis following the crash on Friday.

ANDERSON, Ind. — The driver of a mini-bike – that was traveling through Anderson – remains in critical condition at an Indianapolis-area hospital after the vehicle collided with a van on Friday.

The morning of May 26, Anderson Police responded to a vehicle crash between a van and mini-bike at the intersection of Crystal and Webster streets on the north side of town.

The mini-bike was operated by Trey Hewitt, 26, and his passenger was identified as Trayon Coles, 23, according to police.

Anderson police believe the driver of a Honda van was traveling west toward Broadway Street.

As the van continued through the intersection of Crystal and Webster, the mini-bike reportedly collided with the rear passenger side.

Both Hewitt and Coles were thrown from the mini-bike following the impact.

They were transported to a local Anderson hospital. Hewitt was then taken to an Indianapolis hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The van driver remained on the scene and reportedly fully cooperated with the investigation.

The Anderson Crash Team was called to the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
