The ACID Canal near Anderson is full of water with this years runoff. Neighborhoods around the canal have been flooding since April.

ANDERSON, Calif. - Flooding has plagued an Anderson neighborhood since April. An Anderson – Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) Canal runs behind the homes and is now full of water with this year’s runoff.

Pamela and Sonny Delgado live near the canal. Their home has seen water in front of it as if someone had left a sprinkler. Other homes have seen ponds form due to the volume of water flowing through.

As we walked around today, the canal was not flowing over the levees. Some neighbors say the water comes from underground and flows through the neighborhood. The sound of pumps can be heard as residents attempt to remove the water from their yards. Some residents stopped using their pumps due to the electricity costs of running the pumps.

The Delgados say their home is starting to see the impacts of a high water table. Their home is on a septic system. They called a plumber when their toilet and bathtub backed up.

The Delgados say another neighbor put their home up for sale, received an offer, and had the offer rescinded due to the flooding.

So far, the Delgados say they have not had much help from officials. At a meeting Friday morning, one neighbor who attended said the ACID is assessing the situation.
