Pine Plains February recorded real estate sales
During the month of February Dutchess County recorded only four real estate transactions in Pine Plains – two residential, one mobile home and a restaurant. The sale of Lia’s Mountain House Restaurant was finally recorded at $625,000. The new owners plan on launching it as a catering and event venue. One of the first parties planned will be the iconic NECC Chef and Farmer Brunch on Sunday, July 21.

The unassuming building at 2928 Church Street, with small folding tables out front, was once the office of the Pine Plains Register-Herald. After several iterations as a café or restaurant, it is now Champêtre, an intimate French dining establishment hosted by Patricia and Michel Jean. After 15 years of running Stissing House, they moved four buildings over to this less sprawling setting in 2021.

Great Barrington — The five-month-long saga over the Police Department’s warrantless investigation of a teacher over a copy of “Gender Queer” will now play out in a courtroom. Arantzazú Zuzene Galdós-Shapiro, the teacher investigated in the “Gender Queer” police investigation at W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School, filed a civil rights lawsuit in the United States District Court on Tuesday, May 14.
Habitat for Humanity to build home in North East
MILLERTON — At least one customer for an affordable home is going to be able purchase a three-bedroom, two-bath ranch home this year in the Town of North East. The price will be based on what the customer can afford at the time of purchase and the expectation is that the sale can be completed by the end of the year.
Grace Dietrich Takes Center Stage
