Genung, who enlisted four weeks ago in the Civilian Conservation Corps and who has been at Fort Jay, Governor’s Island, but who expects to leave, to-day, for Sale [sic] Lake City. Cynthia Hawkins's first solo exhibition at kaufmann repetto opens in Milan
MILAN.- kaufmann repetto is presenting Wander / Wonder: Maps Necessary for a Walk in 4D, Cynthia Hawkins’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, which presents a new body of work, part and parcel of the research she has been carrying on since the 1970s. The American painter explores synergies between abstraction and non-objectivity, in a creative process that moves freely between premeditated composition and improvisation, with the ultimate objective of continually developing her forceful and multilayered vocabulary. She reinvents forms drawn from astrophysics, microbiology, ancient rock painting and mathematics, constructing a new ecosystem of symbols, signs, geometric elements and calligraphic characters.

THEATER REVIEW: ‘Circle Mirror Transformation’ plays at the Ghent Playhouse June 14 through 16
Ghent Playhouse in Ghent, N.Y. “I feel as if … I don’t know … of my life.”. Annie Baker is a very good playwright. She truly knows how to create characters within their own worlds. I have liked pretty much every one of her plays. Brian D. Wagner is also a very talented man. Still, the only one of Baker’s plays I have never liked is this one, “Circle Mirror Transformation.” It won the OBIE Award for its first production. It has been highly touted as a brilliant exposé of the actors’ experience and training. Maybe after a life in the theater like mine, it is just too redundant to appeal to my taste. I saw it last summer at Chester Theatre and didn’t enjoy it, and now I have seen it again at the Ghent Playhouse and I didn’t enjoy it. The rest of the audience did, so it must be me.
