One of the West Coast’s most iconic burger chains, In-N-Out, recently filed an initial plan review for a proposed outpost near Anaheim Plaza at 540 N Euclid St, in a storefront vacated in 2019 by another famous Southern California-based brand, Marie Callender’s.
In an email sent to What Now Orange County, In-N-Out’s Assistant Vice President of Real Estate and Development, Mike Abbate, said “We do hope to open a new restaurant at 540 N. Euclid Street in Anaheim sometime in the future. We’re currently in the early phase of the development application process, so it’s too early to say when, or even if, we’ll be able to open a restaurant there.”
Abbate went on to add, “We’re very thankful to be part of the wonderful community in Anaheim, having opened our first location there nearly 43 years ago. We’re grateful for our loyal Customers and we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to better serve them with this proposed Anaheim Plaza location.”
Founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park, CA by Harry Snyder, In-N-Out enjoys a cult-like following of fans who sing the praises of its fresh and decidedly simple menu that includes a burger, cheeseburger, fries, soda, milkshakes, and a few “not-so-secret” secret items if you know how to ask.
In fact, of that menu – which features items such as a grilled cheese, protein style burger, or 4×4 – the company writes on its official website, “Ok, you’ve heard the rumors, wondered what was on it, maybe even felt a little left out of the loop. But in reality, we don’t have any secrets at all. It’s just the way some of our customers like their burgers prepared, and we’re all about making our customers happy. So here are some of the most popular items on our not-so-secret menu.”
In-N-Out made headlines earlier this year when the company, notorious for playing it safe with its expansion plans, announced that it would be establishing an “Eastern Hub” in Franklin, TN, which is slated to begin construction next year and be operational by 2026.
At the time, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said, “I’m proud to welcome In-N-Out Burger, an iconic American brand, to the Volunteer State. Tennessee’s unmatched business climate, skilled workforce and central location make our state the ideal place for this family-run company to establish its first eastern United States hub.”
Until that eastern expansion is fully realized, however, folks will have to visit one of In-N-Out’s more than 380 locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, or Utah.
