Tampa Panel Advances Housing Proposal Near Woodlawn Cemetery, Grave Fears Persist
A 1.34-acre lot along North Boulevard, between Tampa's historic Woodlawn Cemetery and Showmen's Rest Cemetery, is being considered for single-family homes after the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission voted to change its future land use from public/semi-public to residential-3. The buyer plans to build a single-family home, and the Tampa City Council is set to vote on the project September 24. The planning decision has not resolved concerns that the property could contain unmarked graves.
