ALTAMONT, NY - One ticket price will no longer get you access to everything at the Altamont Fair. Organizers announced today that for the first time, they are separating gate admission from ride pricing. They say this will give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the fair in the way that suits them best.
Gate admission will include parking, entrance to the grounds and access to entertainment, demonstrations, music and exhibits. Rides can be purchases separately as single tickets or unlimited ride wristbands, similar to how other local county fairs already operate.
Gate admission on Opening Day will be $5 for everyone 36" tall or taller, with everyone under 36" admitted free. Admission will cost $13 all of other days the fair is operating. Kids 10 and under get in free. Some of the fair's attractions included in that gate admission price include The Royal Hanneford Circus, demolition derby, Robinson's Racing Pigs and Michael DeSchalit, Master Hypnotist.
New attractions this year include a live shark encounter, the American Motor Drome Company Wall of Death live action thrill show, and BMX riders on the Grandstand.
Individual ride tickets will cost $1.50 each. Bundles of 20 tickets can be purchased for $30. 50 tickets cost $60 with this bundle including a free ride voucher. Unlimited ride wristbands are $25 on Opening Day. They cost $30 each on the other days that the fair is operating. The Carnival rides are hosted by Dreamland Amusements.
The fair runs from August 15th to August 20th this season.
