Thunderstorm chances increase into Friday afternoon
Happy Friday, Southern Idaho, we’re almost to the weekend! Now temperatures are continuing to climb into the weekend, with some areas possibly reaching 100 once again, but in Twin Falls temps should remain in the upper 90s. Monsoonal moisture is still being pumped into the region, bringing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. These chances have caused a red flag warning to be issued for Cassia, southern Twin Falls, and northern Blaine counties for lightning-driven fire chances. Friday also has a marginal risk for severe weather, with some cells that pop up having the chance for strong winds, with gusts up to 60 mph with downdrafts. While not widespread, some isolated cells could harbor a good amount of moisture, with a flash flood watch issued for mountain regions of Camas, Elmore, Boise, and Blaine. These thunderstorm chances go into next week as southerly keeps the moisture coming into the area.

The heat is still on with a small break from storms on Wednesday
Chief Meteorologist Avaionia Smith: July 15, 2026 — Happy Wednesday! Mid-week weather holds mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 90s. We get a break from the showers and storms today, but they quickly return for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thunderstorms increase the chance for gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Lightning also brings the potential for fire danger, so a Red Flag Warning will go into effect at 12pm until 9pm Thursday. There is also a level 1: marginal risk for severe weather across the area on Thursday. Stay updated with your Hometown Weather Team as more information comes in, we will keep you all posted. Stay cool and safe!

Advisory continues as temps approach 100 degrees
Another beautiful day across the Gem State with temperatures climbing back into the upper 90s and sunny skies. Now monsoonal moisture is filtering in, creating a chance of dry thunderstorms over the next few days, especially Tuesday, as a low-pressure system swings down and brings in extra moisture. The heat advisory remains in effect until 9 pm Monday, with temperatures back in the upper 90s, possibly even into the 100s. The system on Tuesday will help cool conditions down, but temps will remain in the 90s all week into the weekend. This disturbance pushed the high pressure east, and as it exits, the high pressure will return rising temperatures into the upper 90s.
