Yovanni Suazo, 21, and Alexander J. Perez-Sotomayor, 41, both died of gunshot wounds at around 2:20 a.m. on March 24, said Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio in a release. The manner of death for each man is homicide, he added.

The shooting occurred on the 100 block of East South Street about an hour earlier, Daily Voice has reported. Investigators said that "individuals" were "attempting to open car doors of parked vehicles" in the neighborhood when they were confronted by an area resident.

The resident and one of the "individuals" exchanged gunfire, and both were fatally shot, the department said.

The killings remain under investigation by Allentown police and the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, Buglio said. Anyone with information is asked to call APD's Criminal Investigations Division at 610-437-7721.
