Dorney Park used to have a catchy promotion: Let’s do Dorney.

A man wanted on multiple charges acted as if he wanted to do Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom on Saturday evening, fleeing into the closed amusement park before being apprehended, police said.

Timothy J. Davis-Burgess, 31, of Allentown was spotted before 5 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Johnson hotel on Hamilton Boulevard, South Whitehall Township police said Sunday in a news release. He then ran across Hamilton Boulevard and scaled a fence around the park.

Park security use surveillance cameras to follow Davis-Burgess’ path through Dorney to a restaurant near the water park, police said. He was arrested without incident, police said, and placed in Lehigh County Jail on criminal charges related to the break-in.

Court records show Davis-Burgess is wanted on a host of charges in the Lehigh Valley, including a felony warrant in Northampton County for manufacturing, delivering or possession illegal drugs.

Police called on several other departments to create a perimeter around the park, with state police and officers from Allentown and Salisbury and Upper Macungie townships responding.

Dorney Park is closed for the winter; it’s scheduled to open for the 2023 season in May.
