This week's stop on the Reading with Robert tour was Carlin Springs Elementary School in Alexandria.
The book was "Say Something," by Peter H. Reynolds. In a time where we're seeing activism everywhere this timely story reminds readers of the undeniable importance and power of their voice. There are so many ways to tell the world who you are, what you are thinking, what you believe, and how you'll make it better. But these students weren't afraid to say anything.
Fourth-grade teacher Jamie Theasmeyer spoke to 7News Anchor Robert Burton about the importance of her students seeing other people read besides herself.
"I just wanted them to see how important reading is. And I think besides just getting the teacher's voice it's always nice when you get somebody else in the community that also brings in the importance of reading and education so...wanted them to see it all," says Theasmeyer.
There were a lot of future doctors, lawyers and business owners in this group. Ms. Theasmeyer also says she watches 7News every morning. If you're interested in "Say Something," click here.
